In Addiction Neuroscience, Nova Scholar Diana Fishbein describes a transdisciplinary neuroscience approach to substance use prevention.
This work is guided by a translational research infrastructure for a community of crosscutting scientists that informs interventions that more directly target underlying predictors of substance use, particularly poor biobehavioral health. Advancing this approach requires identifying shared values and priorities, facilitating transdisciplinary communication, sharing findings and innovating methodologies, and finding ways that collaborative investigations can lead to better understanding of mechanisms for behavioral change. Through this work, findings can better inform prevention, practice, and policy, and contribute to greater economic and societal benefits for children, families, and communities.
