Nova Scholar Kurt Stange and co-authors discuss a study published in Research Involvement and Engagement that sought to engage and educate community members with the journal review process. While medical research dissemination is intended to reach and benefit a broad audience, many members outside of the medical community remain unaware of the process and understanding behind study design, manuscript development, and journal review. This study showed that training as a journal review had a positive impact on participants and promoted a better understanding of research articles.
