In the Journal of Cancer Education, Nova Scholar Claudia Witt and coauthors aimed to help cancer patients manage common and challenging symptoms like fatigue and sleep problems through digital trainings for mind-body techniques such as acupressure and mindfulness.
Because many patients lack access to training in these approaches, researchers developed two digital programs designed to teach patients how to use these techniques on their own. The programs were created through a user-centered process, with input from patients, healthcare providers, and experts, to ensure they were practical and relevant for real-world care. Overall, participants reported high satisfaction with the trainings and felt confident using the techniques independently. The findings suggest that digital tools like these could play an important role in supporting self-care and improving symptom management in cancer care.
