Federica Lari, PhD, is a cell biologist, yoga and contemplative practices instructor, and creator of Planetary Health Yoga.
She spent 10 years in biomedical research in Milan, Oxford, and New York, studying how cells respond to stress and how they restore homeostasis. The growing concern for the worsening planetary crisis encouraged her transition toward sustainability, and between 2021-22 she served the New Jersey government as science and policy advisor.
As she navigated the ecological crisis, her inner eyes were witnessing a much deeper wound in our civilization: our disconnection from ourselves, each other, and nature. In this disconnection, we violate the laws of nature and create immense suffering for ourselves and the planet. Federica believes reconnecting must be the foundational capacity to foster the paradigm shift toward a higher level of planetary consciousness, and we can do so by engaging in deep self-reflection and contemplation.
In 2022, she received her yoga teacher certification from Integral Yoga Institute NY. She is also a facilitator of “Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet” by Plum Village (Thich Nhat Hanh’s teachings).
She is a faculty member of Contemplative-Based Resilience (CBR) at Garrison Institute and creator of Planetary Health Yoga, a project rooted in science, spirituality, and movement to help us reconnect and heal our relationship with ourselves, each other, and Mother Earth.
