The Institute for Integrative Health broke ground in mid-January on the central garden of the Green Road Project, a two-acre natural healing environment for injured service members on the campus of Naval Support Activity Bethesda, home of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Once completed this summer, the Green Road will connect two patient residential facilities with a wheelchair/walking path that runs through a forested streambed.
Our goal is to raise $300,000 for construction and design enhancements. After stabilizing the Stoney Creek Run from erosion, construction will begin on a pedestrian bridge, two structures for honoring fallen soldiers, and a communal space for informal gatherings. A dedication ceremony is planned for the fall.
