In PLOS One, Nova Scholar Kurt Stange and coauthors are testing an intervention aimed at increasing the use of preventative health services among older adults.
Authors are testing a tailored intervention aimed at increasing use of Medicare Annual Wellness Visits (AWVs) and other preventive health services among older adults, who often underuse these services. The intervention will be implemented in 24 primary care practices across different settings, including community-based, academic, and medically underserved practices. Researchers will use health record data, surveys, and interviews to track changes in preventive care use and assess whether the intervention reduces racial and ethnic disparities. The goal is to see if a practice-specific approach can boost preventive care and make it more equitable across diverse patient populations.
