In the Milbank Quarterly, an issue brief from Nova Scholars Rebecca Etz and Kurt Stange surveyed primary care clinicians on the impact of recent federal policy changes on primary care.
Primary care is a foundational element of health and health care in the United States, and primary care clinicians can offer unique insights on the federal changes affecting health care. For this brief, a rapid-response survey was deployed to a diverse national sample of primary care providers with 355 respondents from 42 states. Authors draw on respondents’ insights to highlight early warning signs of how policy changes are disrupting the nation’s health care services and impacting patients. They also provide recommendations and call for ongoing evaluation of the impact of federal policy change on primary care.
