The Institute is honored to introduce our newest Scholar: Judy Rollins, PhD, RN, an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C.
As an Institute Scholar, Dr. Rollins will perform research that has the potential to transform how visual art in healthcare settings is designed and deployed to promote health and healing. While art is increasingly used to enhance patients’ well-being and experience, little is known about what elements of artwork are most effective.
Dr. Rollins’ research will shed light on this important question by exploring the impact of contemporary, purpose-built art on hospital patients, visitors, and staff.
With particular expertise working with veterans and the military, Dr. Rollins brings over 30 years of experience in the research and development of arts programs for patients, families, and healthcare staff in a variety of settings.
